Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada. She is American. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. The songs of DiFranco are classified as folk or alternative rock. However, they also are influenced by hip-hop, jazz, and punk. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement being one of the first artists to create her own label 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September, 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her mother hails from Montreal and her father is of Italian origins. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the song "32 Flavors". This song was released on DiFranco's 1995 sixth album Not a Pretty Girl. One version of this song is featured on the film Canadian romantic movie Better Than Chocolate. In 2013, DiFranco apologized after it was announced that she was hosting a three-day workshop on a former Louisiana plantation for slaves. The event was later cancelled but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco issued a new apology just a few days later than the initial. While she is known as Little Peoplesinger, she's worked with many musicians and artists from Pete Seeger through Chuck D all the way to Prince. New Orleans is her home. Ani and Kristen Ford.
