Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27 He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. He also appeared on The Killing, a drama series which was broadcast across the world. He then appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, two internationally popular Danish drama series. He also played a prominent part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television show. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019. According to Mikkelsen's account the actor learned English from his older brother by watching Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
